Last week neither the State House or Senate were in Harrisburg due to a break for this Tuesday’s primary election day. Indeed, Pennsylvania has many exciting primary campaigns and please do not forget to vote. Election details below. • For US Senate: o Democrat Primary between Senator Arlen Specter and Congressman Joe Sestak o Republican Primary between Pat Toomey and Peg Luksik • For PA Governor: o 4 Way Democrat Primary between State Senator Anthony Williams, State Auditor Jack Wagner, former Congressman Joe Hoeffel and Allegheny County Chief Executive Dan Onorator o Republican Primary between State Attorney General Tom Corbett and State Representative Sam Rohrer • US Congressman. Out of the 19 Congressional Districts in Pennsylvania there are several exciting campaigns, including: o The Special Election between Republican Tim Burns and Democrat Mark Critz to fill the seat from the passing of Congressman Jack Murtha. o Several Republican candidates are vying in the 3rd Congressional District to take on Democrat Congresswoman Kathy Dahlkemper in the fall election. o There is a Democrat Primary in the 6th Congressional District between Manan Trivedi and Doug Pike to face incumbent Republican Congressman Jim Gerlach in November. o A multi candidate Republican Primary in the 10th Congressional District to face incumbent Democrat Congressman Chris Carney. • PA Senate. Serving four year terms, half of the Senate is up this year. Due to several retirements there are some exciting races, including: o The 22nd District has multiple Democrat candidates vying to replace retiring Senator Bob Mellow. o The 14th District has a contested Democrat primary between Representative John Yudichak and Tom Leighton to replace retiring Senator Ray Musto. • PA House. The full house of Representatives is up for election this year. While there are many contested primaries, the real excitement will come in the fall due to the slim Democrat Majority.  |
